 This book is a biography of the notorious Margaret Catchpole who had a reputation as a daring horse thief and gaol escapee and was twice condemned to death and twice reprieved then transported for life on the Nile in 1801; before the century ended she became the heroine of a best selling novel and in NSW was the valued servant of and midwife to many free settlers who pioneered the Hawkesbury District A5.
